President Elect: Juanita Golden

President Elect • Juanita Golden
Concord Baptist Association
804 Fairmount Blvd
Jefferson City, MO 65101

Juanita became a believer at an early age and surrendered to full-time ministry as a teenager.  When her pastor asked her, “To what ministry do you feel called?” she replied, “I don’t know.”  His thoughtful answer proved true, “God will show you.”

While attending Southwest Baptist College she met her husband and has been married for 36 years.  She found her calling in being a pastor’s wife and mother to their daughter.  She was a stay-at-home mom for 20+ years while working alongside her husband in several rural churches, in many cases as his secretary.

God literally gave Juanita her current job as Ministry Assistant for Concord Baptist Association in June 2009.  Their family had recently moved and Juanita was out of work for almost six months.  Through a series of events only He could orchestrate she was given the wonderful opportunity to serve His Kingdom in a way she could never have imagined.  The BSAM conference that year was a tremendous help to her as she found herself struggling with many new computer programs and administrative skills which had grown a bit rusty through the years.  Juanita is excited about what God has planned for the future as she embarks on this journey as part of the BSAM Executive Board.  It is her way of saying, “Thank you.”

When Juanita is not working or involved in activities with the church she enjoys quilting, cooking and spending time with family.  Their daughter has recently married and they are “patiently” waiting for their grandparent days to begin.  Juanita is also an avid reader.  One of her favorite books is ”The Shepherd of the Hills.”  Juanita loves Christian music of all kinds, classic to contemporary-hymns to choruses.

Life has had its share of twists and turns, but God has been faithful.  In the words of Paul, ”…I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.  I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11-13 NASB)

She prays the same for you.

President: Holly Fields

President • Holly Fields
Twin Rivers Baptist Association
P.O. Box 707
Wright City, MO 63390

Holly Fields serves as our BSAM President; she has served in the Twin Rivers Association as Ministry Assistant/Bookkeeper since December 2005, attended her first BSAM conference the following fall and hasn’t missed one since. “It was such an uplifting time of encouragement, learning and fellowship with some great Secretaries from across the state.”  Holly encourages all church secretaries to attend this conference to share in the blessings it has to offer.

God led Holly and her family to Troy, MO. from the St. Louis area eight years ago as they needed a bigger home to raise their family. Holly and her husband Rich have two sons; Douglas and Patrick. Doug is in his first year of college at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary preparing to serve in international missions through the Fusion program and IMB. Patrick is a senior in high school and plans to attend a Christian college after graduation.

One of Holly’s fondest memories was one Sunday night when she was 7 years old; sitting in the bedroom she shared with her older sister talking about baptism and what it was to be a Christian. That night she gave her life to Christ and through the years she has enjoyed the privilege of walking with and getting to know her best friend more each day.

Holly and her family are members of Troy First where she serves as Director of Mission Friends. She loves working with these preschool children and sharing her passion for missions with them. We are all on the mission field everyday…  “Present yourself approved to God as a workman…accurately handling the word of Truth”.  (2 Timothy 2:15)

In her spare time, Holly enjoys treasure hunting at resale shops looking for items she can repurpose, cooking/baking or trying new recipes with her family, but most relaxing of all is settling in with a good book.

Program Vice-President • Theresa Shurtleff
First Baptist Church of Steelville

Theresa grew up in a religious home, but did not come to know the Lord personally until 2001.  Theresa is so grateful for this relationship. She does not know how she could make it without having Him to rely on as she has journeyed through life’s trials.

Theresa is the Sparks lead teacher and secretary for Awanas and attends Bible Study whenever it is offered.  She currently serves as the Relay for Life of Crawford County chairperson and the president of the Leasburg Area Ministerial Benevolence.

Although Cyndee was not raised in a Christian home her mother always made sure she attended church and she came to know the Lord at the early age of ten.  One of her favorite verses is Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (NLT)

In her spare time, Cyndee enjoys sewing, reading and is looking forward to serving with and for a wonderful group of secretaries.

Secretary/Treasurer: Vickie Stanley

Secretary/Treasurer• Vickie Stanley
Plaza Heights Baptist Church
1500 SW Clark Road
Blue Springs, MO  64015

Vickie Stanley is new on the BSAM board. For the past 10 1/2 years she has been a Ministry Assistant at Plaza Heights Baptist Church in Blue Springs. She and her husband, John, have been members at Plaza Heights for 32 years and have served as leaders of Bible Drill for 20 years. Vickie is also active in the Women’s Ministry at Plaza.

Vickie and her husband have been married 35 years. They have one daughter, Kristen, who is married to Daniel and they have a son, William, who is 1 year old. She feels very blessed that they live close by so she can see them quite often!

Vickie grew up in a Christian home and was saved at the age of 8 in her Sunday School class. She grew up loving to serve in her church and leared to depend on the Lord for her strength. She has a passion for Scripture memorization and her favorite scripture is Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

In her spare time Vickie loves to spend time with her family, quilt, read and RV with her husband.

When asked to serve on the BSAM board, Vickie prayed a long time before saying “yes.” She believed the Lord was calling her to serve, but didn’t understand why He was asking that of her on top of everything she had going on in her life. But she was obedient and is excited to be a part of the BSAM board to help serve other secretaries throughout the state.
